Hedendaagse mix van bewerkte klassieke jazz stukken, eigen composities en vrije improvisatie
Lac Trio is een Rotterdams ensemble, opgericht in 2022 door tenorsaxofonist Andrea Leone, gitarist Leonardo Franceschini en drummer Carlo Longo. Ze speelden al eens op North Sea Jazz! Verbonden door een gedeelde interesse in het overschrijden van muzikale grenzen, verkent het trio een divers repertoire dat originele composities, klassieke bewerkingen en vrije improvisatie combineert. Hun geluid is geïnspireerd door hedendaagse jazzmuzikanten zoals The Bad Plus, Jakob Bro, ADHD en het Paul Motian Trio, en omarmt zowel ritmische intensiteit als atmosferische subtiliteit.
In het voorjaar van 2025 bracht The Lac Trio hun debuutalbum uit, L’ala incerta della farfalla (De onzekere vleugel van de vlinder), opgenomen in Wisseloord Studios met speciale gast Hanna Marieke en uitgebracht door AUT Records. Het album reflecteert op het poëtische en transformerende potentieel van inactiviteit in een snelle wereld. Door middel van delicate texturen, zwevende harmonieën en vloeiende improvisaties nodigt het trio de luisteraar uit in een ruimte waar twijfel en stilte bronnen van kracht en creativiteit worden. Zoals de onvoorspelbare vlucht van een vlinder navigeert de muziek door fragiele maar krachtige emotionele landschappen – een reis zonder vaste bestemming, waar onzekerheid een eigen vorm van schoonheid wordt.

Their sound draws inspiration from contemporary jazz players such as The Bad Plus, Jakob Bro, ADHD, and the Paul Motian Trio, embracing both rhythmic intensity and atmospheric subtlety.
In spring 2025, The Lac Trio released their debut album, L’ala incerta della farfalla (The Uncertain Wing of the Butterfly), recorded at Wisseloord Studios with special guest Hanna Marieke and released by AUT Records. The album reflects on the poetic and transformative potential of inaction in a fast-paced world. Through delicate textures, suspended harmonies, and fluid improvisations, the trio invites the listener into a space where doubt and stillness become sources of strength and creativity. Like a butterfly’s unpredictable flight, the music navigates fragile yet powerful emotional landscapes — a journey without a fixed destination, where uncertainty becomes its own form of beauty.
